What the 6-day virtual training covers

The training runs online over six days and mixes taught sessions, practical activities and assessments. It covers the bank's products and, more importantly, how field sales actually works — how to open a conversation, how to qualify someone, and how to handle being told no.

It ends with a post-assessment. Clearing it is what triggers the offer letter, so the six days are genuinely part of the selection process rather than an onboarding formality. Treat them as an extended interview.

You also come out of it with a fully funded banking certification. That certificate is yours regardless of what you do next, which makes the six days worth attending even on a pessimistic view.

The job: what a Business Development Executive actually does

You are attached to a branch and you sell the bank's products in the area around it. In practice that means meeting people — at their shops, their offices, at the branch counter — opening current and savings accounts, and then selling the products that go with them: loans, credit cards and insurance.

It is a field role, not a desk role. You will be out most of the day, and that is why a driving licence and access to a two-wheeler are mandatory rather than preferred. If you are picturing a seat behind a counter, this is not that job.

You are given targets and you are measured against them. That is not a warning so much as a description: the incentive part of your pay is what makes the role worth doing, and it only pays if you sell. People who enjoy this role tend to be the ones who like talking to strangers all day.

We deliberately do not publish a monthly salary figure for this role. Fixed pay varies by location and is confirmed by Axis Bank on your counselling call — and a number we cannot stand behind is worse than no number at all.

Where you will be posted

Axis Bank runs branches across India, and postings are made against branch requirements near your preferred location — typically within about 10 km of it. For most candidates this is the biggest practical advantage of the program: a bank job that does not require relocating to a metro and paying big-city rent out of a first salary.

It is not a guarantee of a specific branch. Availability depends on which branches are hiring when you clear the process, so it is worth being honest on your application about where you can realistically work every day.
